This week for “Mount farm Monday” we took on Tsukuyumi! As most of us had never tried it before it took us a few tries to get the mechanics right, but after that it was smooth sailing and we even had a few mounts drop!
Thanks to everyone who came and we’re planning to go for Byakko next week!
As many of you playing the game will likely know, patch 5.1 has now been released. This patch added quite a lot of new content, but it also added a new 24-person raid, “The Copied Factory”.
We alway try and do these as an FC each week, but this time we tried to do it as ONLY an FC run! We didn’t quite manage to get all 24 people to be members of our FC (it was a bit late in the day for a few people), but thanks to our FC members, some friendly ex-FC members and friends of the FC… we not only went in as a full alliance, but we finished it as well!
Most of us were going in blind which was both chaotic, but also a lot of fun. We did wipe once on the 3rd boss, but that was more because on the first try we didn’t have any markers and there was some confusion when the adds spawned.
Thanks to everyone who came today and made it an amazing evening!
We’re still doing our treasure map runs every Sunday, but we’re now alternating the time from afternoon to evening to try and make it more flexible for our FC members.
This week we did an afternoon run and although we didn’t make a massive amount of money (330k Gil each), we did make it to the end once so that’s better than nothing!
Monday is now now being known as “Mount Farm Monday” and today 7 of us tackled Zurvan Extreme. We were prepared to do it 99 times, but thankfully it only took about half of that for everyone to get the Demonic Lannder bird mount!
But even better, that Demonic Lanner was the last “bird” mount that 4 of us needed, so we were able to do the sidequest to get the Firebird!
We haven’t picked what we’re farming next week yet, but it’ll probably be one of the Stormblood “Dog” mounts!
This evening the FC got together to farm the Arrhidaeus mount from Alexander: The Soul of the Creator Savage!
It took us a few tries to get the hang of the mechanics (the ones we couldn’t skip), but after that it went quite smoothly and everyone who came got a mount.
Thanks to you all, especially those that didn’t even need it and were just helping out!
We tried moving our weekly treasure maps to a later timeslot to better suit our members. I’ve no idea if that contributed, but we had a lot of good luck so like the title says, we’ve probably used it all up now!
Nearly every map popped a portal and we finished the dungeon not once, but twice!! Wow! We also found out something interesting, if you stand outside the arena when someone opens the door, it doesn’t lock you in place so you can run around while they’re in the cutscene! 😀
In just two hours we each managed to make 665k Gil and that’s not including the few pieces of Fireglass Leather that also dropped!
Quite a few of our members are on holidays at the moment, but 7 of us still got together to do some treasure maps.
We had a lot of bad luck and hardly saw any portals, but when we did we got quite lucky, including getting right to the end one time!
We thought that it wasn’t going to be very successful, but in the end we still made 519,000 Gil each. That’s also not including any drops that we got, not bad for a few hours!
Two groups of FC members set off with treasure maps and we had a really productive afternoon! Not only did both groups manage to complete Lyhe Ghiah, but one group made approximately 484,000 Gil each and the other a really nice 620,000 Gil each. That doesn’t include the value of any drops either – not bad for just a few hours work!
And there’s more… we had one of the higher/lower games of chance… and we completed that as well!
Thanks to everyone that came and let’s see if we can do even better next week!
Since our last post we’ve all been very busy playing the new expansion, Shadowbringers! However, today 8 members of the FC got together and we managed to get a clear on Titania Extreme for 6 of our members!
Well done everyone and now let’s do it again to get the mount!
I’m very proud to say that our Free Company is now two years old and to celebrate, we had a party with lots of games and prizes! We also officially launched this website!
First we started with some jump challenges, specifically the lighthouse type building in Shirogane and then the Bokairo Inn in Kugane. We didn’t try the massive Shiokaze Hostelry because we didn’t have all day and there were other games to play!
It didn’t take too long for 3 people to reach the top of each so after that moved onto “Hide and Seek”. I’d hidden 4 characters in an area (Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks in this case) and it was the first three people to find each who won a prize. Some were found quite quickly, others took a few more minutes.
Then we played three games of what I’ve been calling “Lawn darts”. We climb a high structure, I place a marker on the ground and everyone has 3 attempts to try and land as close as possible to it, 2 points if they’re dead centre, 1 point if they’re in it at all. Highest score wins the round. Weplayed this at Amarissaix’s Spire (East Shroud), Witchdrop (Coerthas Central Highlands – this was the hardest one!) and The Descent (Middle La Noscea).
Next it was back to the FC house for a pop quiz (first to shout out the correct answer wins). Some questions outdoors, some indoors and I think it went pretty well!
Then we headed off to Wolves’ Den Pier for a mini PVP tournament. We had two separate tournaments, one for melee DPS and another for ranged/casters.
Finally we headed back to the FC house for the raffle. While we were getting started at the beginning of event I had everyone generate a random number with /random and I started to use /random repeatedly. Whoever was closest got to pick a prize from our prize pool! The final few prizes were raffled off randomly to whoever had the closest to the prize pool.
Then the scores from all the events were tallied and the we had a grand prize which was won by Momo Blakes. This is a drawing of his character by our very talented Blithesome Carl so I look forward to seeing that at somepoint in the future!
Thank you to everyone who came today, I think it went really well and I hope you all had a fun time. Thanks for making the FC what it is and I look forward to another year of fun with you all!
